Why did I leave the full-time practice of law at AM Law 100 firms and start writing briefs as a freelancer?
In 2017 I unexpectedly became a commercially successful conceptual artist.
A prominent New York / Los Angeles collector discovered me and I was offered gallery representation by a noted international gallery in 2020.
My first two solo shows (2021, 2023) were both selected ‘Must See’ by Artforum, and the 2023 solo show — ‘This Is Text Based Art’ — was also a curatorial section of Mousse.
As of 2023 a prominent London / Berlin art advisory firm ranks me in the top ten percent living artists worldwide and in the United States, and in the top five percent globally for artists associated with Postminimalism, Postconceptualism, Conceptual Painting, Appropriation Art, and Text-Based Art.
The gallery places 1 to 2 of my pieces a year with established collections, and my works are in private and corporate collections in places such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Chicago, Miami, and elsewhere.
I’m represented by Engage Projects Gallery in Chicago, which has a growing international reputation in contemporary conceptual art with a roster of about twenty artists from eight countries on several continents, several of whom have been acquired by the leading museums in the United States and Europe and have been featured in The New York Times and similar. I’m fortunate to be in a gallery with these excellent international artists.
In addition to making art I write occasionally write about aspects of art theory and art history, as well as art ownership.
